So clearly, Hollywood and Bollywood are fairly different from each other.
Few of the major differences being:
Hollywood makes movies and Bollywood at times, copies them.(Hollywood, if copies from the European/Chinese movies, works hard not to make them look like copies.)
Hollywood tackles various themes and issues, some bordering on human sensitivity and reality. On the other hand, Bollywood is centered on family, drama, and music.
In Bollywood there is action, drama, emotion, romance, comedy all in one movie.(90% movies are entirely the same.)
But well, in Hollywood you have to see 5 movies for that.
Hollywood movies are shorter (two hours) while a Bollywood film is longer (three hours) and comes with an intermission.
Bollywood makes more films, but Hollywood has larger movie earnings and spends more on movie production.
Hollywood is recorded on-set. Bollywood has playback recordings.
Hollywood movies with music are classified as musical while Bollywood 99% have music and dance (~ 5-6 songs per film)
Hollywood tickles at the adventurous human spirit while Bollywood movies appeal more to the sentimental side of human nature.

Hollywood movies mainly rely on the subject that is told, movies are entirely taken where it should have happened.
Bollywood deviates from topic with extra elements. The movies make songs on a totally different exotic place and rest of the drama somewhere else.
In Hollywood movies- first the casting is done and then decided whether he/she should act.
In Bollywood, most of the times "actor's dates" are obtained and then the movie is made without even actually casting them.
Directors would decide to make a movie with (lets say) Salman Khan and then think about the movie itself.
Bollywood has the expressionless faces of Khans.
Hollywood has technical effects, computer graphics and creative geniuses.
Revenue
Bollywood made a revenue of $1.75 Billion in 2006(estimated to rise to $3.4 Billion in 2010) which is only half the revenue of what ne Hollywood studio, Walt Disney made in 2006 - and that is saying a lot.
Although Hollywood produces only a fraction of the number of films made all over the world, it garners a staggering 75% of total revenues. Also, 50% of its earnings(expected to grow to 80% in the next 20 years) come from the foreign market whereas for Bollywood it is 20%.
Spiralling Production Costs and Risks
The average cost of producing, marketing and distributing a Hollywood film is more than US$60 million though a Star Wars or Harry Potter costs around $100 million and only one out of ten succeeds.
At the same time Shekhar Kapur's 'Paani' which is tipped to be the costliest film ever to be made in Bollywood will cost $20 million and the average cost of a big movie is around $ 5 Million. (50% of the movies produced in Bollywood are never released and on an average more than 95% of those released results in losses.)
Kind of audiences
Bollywood refrains from inclusion of steamy scenes in its movies, often excluding even kissing scenes. If kids are to be taken along to the screening, then clean Bollywood movies are a preferred choice. It also does not have exceptional nudity in its films which make them more coveted by family oriented audiences. Hollywood movie themes often include risqué themes and sexy or violent visual images if not made specifically for very young crowds.
Posters
Although many of the Bollywood ones are inspired from or blatantly copied
from the Hollywood ones, the differences are clear:

However, it is no hyperbole that Bollywood has been influencing the music world pertaining to the western world too. This is because of the fact that several Indian film music composers have influenced the musicians worldwide.
Personal choice.
Hollywood movies are great, but Bollywood movies aren't too far from that either.
Since Bollywood movies are being released abroad, more cultures have a chance to view them. Subtitles to ensure a greater audience understanding of dialogue and culture. If you are madly in love with the Bollywood song and dance routine, then such movies can woo you. It all depends on your choice.
